Puppy School

Dog Behaviour - Puppy Class Puppy PreschoolA new puppy is an exciting time in any household and the first weeks are very important to setting your puppy on the right track.

Your puppy has to learn what it is allowed to do and what behaviours are unacceptable. If you teach your puppy using positive rewards the learning experience will create a relationship to enjoy for your dog’s whole life.

Puppy classes are the ideal environment for you and your puppy. They are for puppies between 8 and 16 weeks of age. Only kind, effective techniques are used, helping you to form a strong bond with your puppy.

Classes are one hour a week over four consecutive weeks, and cost $88. Judith and fellow vet nurse Monique take the classes. Class times are:

  • Monday 7.00pm  9th Jan FULL, next class 13th Feb
  • Saturday 10.00am 21st Jan FULL, next class 25th Feb

Bookings are essential so if you want to come or if you want more information contact me or contact the vet clinic now.

The important outcomes from puppy school are:

Socialisation; your dog learns how to interact with other puppies and people

You learn how to teach your pup basic obedience skills e.g. sit, lie down, stay and come

You learn how to prevent unwanted behaviours in your dog, especially jumping up, toileting in the wrong places, barking, chewing, mouthing and biting

Education on feeding, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, sterilisation, microchipping and leadership are part of the curriculum

Identifying and managing normal play behaviour vs. aggressive or bullying behaviour

Puppy classes are held at All Creatures Great and Small Vet Clinic in South Perth. The indoor classroom provides a safe environment for the puppies to learn and have fun.

When attending class puppies must have had at least their first vaccination, be free from illness and be on a collar or harness and lead.
